Analyzing partitioned FAIR health data responsibly

While the project Distributed FAIR information systems to enable federated learning and reasoning focuses on the architecture of federated solutions, this project focuses on the federated learning framework and its ethical, legal and societal aspects.

The project focuses on the federative use of all data in the 'Maastricht study'. (10,000 citizens) and related CBS data to understand the relationships between diabetes, lifestyle, and socio-economic factors. The project, carried out by computer scientists, physicians and ethicists from Maastricht University, is part of the national "Personal Health Train" initiative.

Thanks to the synergy in the area of algorithmic, legal and ethical issues, this offers the other projects the opportunity for new connections in the medical sector. At the same time, this project will learn from use cases in other domains, such as security and media and information services.
