EciDA: Evolutionary Changes in Distributed Analysis

The objective of this TKI proposal is: to develop and establish IoT and (big) data driven analysis platform allowing the on-the-fly changes of data sources and changing data analysis steps and its parameters in runtime according to the changing environmental situation.

Background

The recent research shows that data growth in the past years is exponential in many organizations. The information, relevant for user, typically requires processing through the whole historical data together with data coming in real-time. Only by having such an information very precise predictions could be made. Distributed computing and data processing systems are used where a workload can no longer be covered by a single computer efficiently.

Project goal

The objective of this TKI proposal is: to develop and establish IoT and (big) data driven analysis platform allowing the on-the-fly changes of data sources and changing data analysis steps and its parameters in runtime according to the changing environmental situation. In the context of ECiDA – NWO proposal from RuG, CWI, TNO, Vitens and Ancormen, the research is focused on a large scale, improving water quality data analysis (both historical and coming from sensors in real-time) and better prediction on control of water quality respect to the different demand for water and different purposes for water use.

Utilisation

This project is relevant because the use of continuous IoT sensor data from the water pipes offers high potential for a significant improvement of control of water quality. It also offers promising business opportunities through providing data driven analysis solutions which can adapt to the external changes (environment, new production line in smart industry, customization of products, etc.)
